DIE-NASTY SOAP-A-THON 2014:
Homecoming! Die Nasty Returns to its Rural Roots in Flatt Alberta!

An international improv comedy institution since 1993, the 22nd annual Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon returns to the Varscona Theatre running CONTINUOUSLY from Friday, September 12th at 7pm until Sunday, September 14th at 9pm!

The town of Flatt Alberta, geographical centre of the province and home to the WORLD’S LARGEST COMPOST HEAP, will celebrate its 100th year since incorporation. And we’re inviting you to come celebrate! There’ll be pancake breakfasts, heap-climbing contests, dance socials, sock hops, bake-offs, three-legged races, the annual Howie McCutcheon poetry contest, and of course the Centre of Alberta Flatt Singing Contest and Amateur Night Variety Show! So come one come all! Citizens past! Former Mayors and Reeves! Daughters and Sons of our beloved hamlet! Watch as our tiny burg swells in size… from 34 to well… five or six times that and-

THIS PRESS RELEASE IS INTERRUPTED BY A MESSAGE FROM THE FLATT TOWN COUNCIL. VERIFIED NEWS HAS JUST REACHED US THAT THE COMPOST HEAP OF THE SCURRILOUS NEIGHBOURING TOWN OF POOTANK HAS SURPASSED OUR OWN BY 4.5 METERS (14.76 FEET). A NEW TOWN MONUMENT WILL HAVE TO BE UNVEILED BEFORE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS CONCLUDE. THANK YOU!

So there you have it! Shocking! Now join the cast of Die-Nasty the Live Improvised Soap Opera and guests from all over earth as we return to Flatt, Alberta for the 22nd Annual Soap-a-thon!

In 1993, Die-Nasty’s first season in the beloved Varscona Theatre, we set our story in a little Alberta town called, you guessed it, Flatt! It was a town riddled with rumour, familial discord, political corruption… and a whole lotta love. Castle star and Die-Nasty pal Nathan Fillion played that whole season as love-lorn country poet Howie McCutcheon, Mark Meer made his first regular season appearance and a Varscona tradition was launched every Monday night. We are thrilled and excited to return to Flatt for our final year in the pre-refurbished and remade Varscona Theatre!
Starring all your Die-Nasty faves, including Mark Meer, Jeff Haslam, Davina Stewart, Peter Brown, Matt Alden, Belinda Cornish, Cathleen Rootsaert, Jesse Gervais, Jason Hardwick, Kory Mathewson, Vincent Forcier, and Shannon Blanchet.

Die-Nasty is joined by London UK Improvathon colleagues Alan Cox, Maya Sendall, and Dylan Emery, Liverpool’s Rosie Wilkinson, and dozens of remarkable actors from Edmonton and across Alberta and Canada as well as the Die-Nasty return of our very own Ron Pederson.

In the directing chair we have Jeff Haslam, Cathleen Rootsaert, Peter Brown, Rosie Wilkinson and Mr. Dana Andersen. Our Improvising Technical Wizard is Brad Fischer and continuity online and off will be provided by Jim Cej. Die-Nasty is produced by Nicole Thibault.

Single admission tickets for the event are $16. That means if you leave and want to return you must purchase a new ticket. Audience members also have the option of purchasing a weekend pass for $50, which lets you come and go freely throughout the entire Soap-A-Thon. Like you're the mayor. The mayor of Flatt!

All tickets go on sale at 6pm Friday, September 12 at the Varscona Theatre box office (10329-83 Avenue) and are available all weekend long! All ticket sales are CASH ONLY. Passes are also available NOW by calling Tix on the Square at 780-420-1757 or online at tixonthesquare.ca

The Die-Nasty Soap-a-thon is a fundraising event to help us bring DN back every year. We thank you for your support!
